Always an interesting outing at Rideau Ferry Antiques!

JUNK LOVE DRUNK!
Is life complete without a roadtrip to Rideau Ferry Antiques? This trip I spent some time out in the yard snapping some photos of my favourite rusting junk piles. I'm forever impressed by the organization of "stuff" at this place, and somehow the result always leaves an overwhelming yet  artistic impression on me.

This place is a great spot to find just about anything...be prepared to dig and explore. The outdoor yard spills over with a variety of old and interesting rusted things, the barns (a new one now open) is home to antique and vintage home furnishings, collectables and salvage, while the cupboards and cabinets inside the house are filled to the brim with teacups, china, figurines, linens and more.  There is just too much stuff to even mention!

What I like best about this place:  you take home a few neat treasures at reasonable prices, but also a humbling reminder of the impact of consumption, and where things go when we no longer use them.

As always, we would love to see and hear about your great Rideau Ferry finds and any upcycled projects!

Sunday August 14: What's Happening at the Tin Barn!

Just in! A sweet new selection of  home décor and kitchenware: pottery, funky mugs and dishes, pitchers, platters and more!  We add new inventory each week so you get new finds all the time! Handmade chalkboards also ready for Sunday – including our new colour – Butter Yellow!  These are great for going back to school, making to do lists, keeping track of groceries, or for letting guests know your menu!

Love Salvage? We now have a few DIY salvaged items that are great to use to achieve that country rustic look around your home & garden: Garden Markers, Old Windows, Decorative Wood Trimwork, and Wooden shutter pieces are some of the treasures.  Be creative and make something nice!

A Taste of Country from the Market! My sister’s Homemade Fresh Fruit Sundae Toppers or Jams make great gifts - or personal treats! Peach, Raspberry & Strawberry now available in gift baskets of two with pretty vintage fabric tied around the lids. [Also commonly used to make toast taste better J ]

Heads up, Pickles are Coming! – You can place a pickle jar order with us in advance - her homemade pickles come in two weeks! Send us an email or stop into the shoppe to place an order.

Mid Century Modern Fanatics!  We are very excited and happy to welcome a new inspirational guest vendor this Sunday!  Sharing a passion for home décor, Tharani, from 20 Rue Edward, who specializes in collecting and decorating with Mid Century Modern pieces and kitchenware, will be onsite showcasing and selling some of her amazing goods!  I was fortunate enough to get a house tour from her the other day and all I can say is that surely, you will not be disappointed by her creative and playful displays and her eye for a good find!  Oh, did I mention she cooks wicked exotic vegetarian foods? Sample some of her favourites at the market this Sunday while you browse for treasures.  For more info follow her at their blog: www.rue20edward.blogspot.com

And lasly, did anyone else smell Fall looming in the air the other night? Maybe I’m over reacting…but just the same, I’ve put out some fun & pretty hand knit throws, which go great with a cool evening and a campfire J

Hope to see you Sunday
